   Sopwith Camel F.1
1/16 scale Model Airways #1030
Static display replica kit: Finished length 14 1/16", wingspan 21"
Laser-cut wood & cast metal parts

An adventure in modeling- the Workshop is proud to present this most
incredibly detailed kit of unsurpassed authenticity and uncompromising quality.
Virtually every detail is here in laser-cut basswood and birch plywood, accurate
Britannia metal castings, brass, copper, aluminum, steel and rubber parts.

   Details

This is an open airframe kit- normally hidden under layers of canvas,
we leave the laser-cut wooden frames uncovered to show the intricate construction.
It would maybe be interesting to cover one side of the plane cut-away style, because
some of the paint schemes and graphics in 1917 were art in themselves.

The Sopwith Camel entered Royal Navy squadron service in July of 1917. The Camel was the
first British fighter to mount twin synchronized .303" Vickers machine guns in front of the cockpit,
and the fairing surrounding the gun installation created a hump, giving the Camel its name.

The F.1 was powered by a 130hp Clerget engine and flew at 101-113 mph. She had a wicked
torque and was difficult to fly, but in the hands of an experienced pilot, the Camel was a deadly opponent in a dog-fight, and scored 1,294 victories- more than any other Allied aircraft type.

Featuring over 220 laser cut birch parts for wings and fuselage

Over 70 Britannia metal parts for building the Clerget 9-cylinder rotary engine,
complete with cylinders, magneto & radiator

Accurately scaled brass and steel parts, plus copper wire to reproduce fine details

Five true to size blueprints & a 28 page step-by-step photo instruction manual
pave your way to a museum quality masterpiece.
